JV Blue-April 24-25 Tahoe Qualifier

YBA Dawgs Blue 54 Red Raiders 53

Summary: The closest and easily the most exciting game of the season! The game winning shot was made by David Saghatelyan. It was an offensive rebound and put back with aprox. .12 seconds left in the game. The game itself was a great and even match up throughout with both teams going back and forth with leads. The Red Raiders led the 1st half and we took the lead with a great full court press fueled 8-0 run which was part of a 14-4 run that put us up by 10 going into the 4th quarter. This run was fueled by the whole team committing to all out effort on Defense (I always capitalize Defense, please don't un cap it). After a few mental breakdowns in our zone we were leading by 2 with 1 minute left. After we forced a turn over we had the ball on their baseline with 12.7 seconds left. We then turned the ball over on the inbounds and fouled the best player in the Red Raiders, and of course he makes both to go up 1 with 11.6 seconds. Nolan Eger then missed an NBA line shot that David followed up to win.

Defensive MVP: the entire team
Mr Clutch: David Saghatelyan

YBA Dawgs 62 Extreme Hoops 47

Summary: A rematch of last weeks tournament finale. We played them much better this time around. The team came out and played our game and forced them to adapt. Led by the outstanding play of Jr. Sanchez, James Trujillo, & Ceron Cherry we put the game away early in the 2nd half. Nolan Eger played well in limited mins with 2 three point fgs in the 1st half. Our newest player Darrell had his 1st significant minutes and played excellent defense, was unselfish, and is an excellent teammate. We won as a team and are coming together as group and quickly learning how good WE can be. Another impressive performance for the team.

Defensive MVP: Evan Orrick for outstanding interior play against bigger, stronger players
Fastest Learner: Nolan Eger

YBA Dawgs 73 YBA Dawgs 73

Summary: A celebration of YBA's excellence during this tournament. Playing a split squad all star game the MVPs were Kyle Duffin (Tom) & Luis Parache (Adam). Everyone had outstanding performances as every player except 2 scored. Luis hit 4 3 pt fgs, inc 3 in a row! And had a spectacular and 1 lay up on a fast break. Kyle consistently knocked down jumpers and played very good Defense both individually and help side. Also having good games were Ceron, David, Darrell & Evan. Nolan, James, & Jr all played well in spurts. It was a very fun game and I know the players & I had a blast! We were declared co champs and had a huge 19 player Trophy presentation. Darell made his 1st shot as a Dawg! a 3 no less. Congratulations to both teams on an excellent tournament!

Defensive MVP: Ceron Cherry for his 5 block performance

Finishing thoughts from Coach...

An absolutely spectacular weekend I couldn't be happier with the performances and growth that we exhibited! We are just starting to come together as a team and we look really good as a team...

I am blessed to have the players I have and believe that the last 4 players to our team Jr. Sanchez, David Saghatelyan, Darrell Poincer, and on Wednesday we will have Andre C... Who joined with the original 6: James Trujillo, Evan Orrick, Luis Parache, Kyle Duffin, Ceron Cherry, & Nolan Eger... I truly believe that IF we continue to strive to be our best as coaches, players, teammates and young men everyday we will continue to be successful as well as win games.

P.S. As this is my first season I was unsure the environment that I was entering but had heard nothing but the best and I am happy (and relieved) to say that I am PROUD to be a Dawg and am a friend, coach, and mentor to any Dawg of any age who needs me.
