The 8th Grade White team had a successful weekend culminating in a 2nd place finish in the 8th Grade White Division. The team rolled through its two games on Saturday, 52-11 and 56-15. The team used pressure defense to jump out to big early leads in both games. Luke Jordan stood out in the second game hitting four 3 pt shots, while Justin Holmes had a strong game inside. In the championship game on Sunday, the White team was matched up against the Folsom Force who they had split two games with so far during the season. The Dawgs jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead, but it turned into a very tight contest the rest of the way. The Force lead by two at half and was leading by six until Justin Kinney hit a 3 pointer at the end of the third quarter. The game came down to the last possession when the Dawgs played for the last shot trailing by two and Shane Baynes 3 pointer just missed. Final score was 33-31 Folsom Force. It was a hard fought game the Dawgs gave it their all. Will Greenwood lead scorers with 13 points including an acrobatic layup in the last minute. Shane played a strong overall game with 6 points, 6 rebounds and at least 4 steals. Coach Gee said "Shane was inspirational in the team huddles! We are starting to realize our potential as a team. I love coaching this team!"
