Varsity Blue-Ultimate Basketball Championship

The varsity blue team started out 1-1 on Saturday to take second place in their pool for Sunday. They started the tournament off with a win, beating Nor Cal Pump and Run 53-48. Quincy Shelby was very aggressive on both offense and defense and controlled most of the tempo for the game. John Davis was extremely strong on the boards with 10. They were down by 14 with 7 minutes to go in the game and Colton Nelson and Aaron Hendricks sparked a flame that would lead them to the win. In their second game, they lost to the Benicia Blue Devils 51-45. Aaron Hendricks had a great first half, going 6 for 7 from three point range, scoring 26 points in the game. Michael Burkhalter and Garrett Rodriguez played good defense to help keep the other team off the rebounds. Colin Lee, Trey Rosenberg, and Eric Gee all helped keep the game close with clutch threes and good defensive stops. On Sunday they played One Nation in a close 46-43 loss. John Davis had a good game going 6-6 from the foul line and grabbing 8 rebounds. Kyle Peterson made and impact right away coming off the bench creating open looks to score on offense. Everyone else played tremendous defense and had great energy for only having 7 players for this game.
