Varsity Black-Ultimate Basketball Championship-May 1st-2nd

The Varsity black team went 2-0 on Saturday for first place in their pool. They first beat Lakeshow 50-43 with a truly amazing effort from everyone. Remi Barry scored 19 points and had some great defensive stops. Aaron Hendricks had 16 points while Jose Rodriguez had 10. Jamal, a new addition to the team, played very well both offensively and defensively to help with the win. Marcus Hendrick was a huge factor on the boards to keep the other team from scoring. Eric Gee had good defensive stops when Doc wanted the pressure up which caused YBA to go on a run that would lead them to victory. For the second game, they beat GP Gloves 60-40. Justin Soria was a big factor in controlling the tempo of the game and did very well under pressure in the first half. Another factor in the win was Jamal who played aggressive and grabbed every rebound or lose ball that he could. Remi had an all around solid game looking for the open man and playing good defense. Colin Lee got hot in the second half to ensure the win for the black team. In Sunday’s game, they lost to Team 94 by 10 points. Nico Ruiz had a great defensive game while Aaron and Remi stayed solid on offense. It was a great effort by the team but unfortunately they just couldn’t hang on for the win.

Everyone played their hearts out this weekend and gave a great effort each game. Good job this weekend!!
