7th Blue

The blue team took 2nd place in the D1 bracket. YBA was impressive in a 64-26 victory over a game but overmatched Cal Elite squad. YBA frustrated their opponent with consistent defensive pressure on the outside. Grady Collins led a balanced attack with 15 points. Max O’Rourke, Scott Zabrowski, and Jackson Sterling each notched 5 assists. The team held off a scrappy, physical Silicon Valley Tigers Purple team by a final margin of 40-35. Nicholas Clough and Scott had 10 points apiece, and Grady hit a key 3-pointer late to turn back a rally. Jackson played another solid overall game with 5 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Mitchell Holt backstopped a good defensive effort with 5 blocked shots. YBA fell 63-45 to Marin Ducks Black in the championship. The team got off to a slow start against Marin’s very physical perimeter defense, but Jackson and Mitch keyed an improved showing in the second half. Mitch cleaned the glass for a total of 15 rebounds, and Jared Flowers chipped in with 8 points. Coach Shaw said he was proud of the team’s progress & effort for the weekend!
